As we got out of the car I slung my purse over my head and across my body, as I've done since the kids could walk. Two free hands, one for each kid. Has always stuck with me.
Instinctively, I thought about reaching out my hand for Amanda to grab, then I remembered something from a couple weeks ago...
Mom, I'm not trying to be mean or anything, but could you please not hold my hand anymore? It's embarrassing...
I retracted my thought and tucked it into the no-longer-a-little-girl folder. Stupid folder. Why can't they grow up and stay little all at the same time? FOREVER.
While we were watching the movie I was trying to be playful and silly, quietly singing along to the songs that I know by heart. She kept telling me to be quiet, that I was embarrassing her. The more she did, the more obnoxious I became, trying to elicit playful response from her.
She's getting too serious too soon.
In public, that is. Home is another story, and when we took pictures of ourselves like Brandon and I did, she had me laughing so hard I was crying. I literally had tears streaming down my cheeks. I put a few of the pictures together, and eventually I'll do something with the others we took, because they are just too awesome to ignore.
I won't be getting rid of that she'll-be-little-forever-in-my-heart folder anytime soon...

Ha. You're just like me. The more my 14 yr old son says, "Moo-oom!" The more I want to hear him say it.
heh heh
It's always a good day, when I've embarrassed him.
Nice pics!
When they ask you to stop holding their hand, that's when you go out and buy one of those harnesses with a leash on them, hahah.
Could you imagine a (nearly) eleven-year-old wearing a leash? Ahahaha!
I hate to tell you that it will get worse...the seriousness that is. I miss when my daughter would hold my hand or kiss me. She has all of a sudden become a teen and sometimes I embarrass her without doing anything!
I feel your pain.
They come back, sort of, especially the girls. Sometimes mine will even walk arm and arm with me, in public.
Oh no! This makes me think about how quickly time passes. I know that before long my baby girl is going to be telling me that. Especially since I have a tendency to embarrass people with my spontaneous goofy self. :) I am trying to get all the squeezes and kisses I can before she grows up, but I know that it will still happen way too soon.
