Yesterday I went to the college campus to meet with my advisor because I'm too old for this shit, and I have no idea what I'm doing in terms of EVERYTHING. As soon as I shook hands with the man I let him know he had some work to do because I was completely clueless. He gave me a smile and got right to it.
I'm only part time, so I'll only be taking two classes this semester, which will be anthropology (studying Africa!) and acting. How awesome is that?! It also turns out that I already have 25 credits from two very short college stints I attempted about fifteen years ago. Do you know what this means??
I'm a sophomore, bitchezzzz!
Anyway, I had to get home right away, so I didn't have a lot of time to re-acquaint myself with the campus; however, the small amount of walking around I did left me feeling slightly different than the young, perky children of the usual college ages who were also milling around. I was certain each of my elderly gray hairs were gleaming in the light, and every laugh line was mocking me.
It's ok, once I start classes I'm sure my awesome 36-year-old wisdom will outshine any of my visible signs of aging. Maybe.
Regardless, I'm more than ready to dive in and get these gen-ed classes out of the way so I can focus on my major, which is film production. Talk about fun - I'm more excited than I've been in a very long time and I. CAN'T. WAIT!!

how fucking awesome that you're in a place where you can go back to college!!
Yay for you! I'm sure you will get right back into the swing of things! :-)
This is the one time that I've found being a single mom of two kids is benefitting me! I got enough pell grant money that my tuition and books will be paid for. :)
Awesome! Knock 'em dead!
Yay! I'm very excited for you.
You should be so proud of yourself, there aren't many people that are brave enough to do it. You wi rock it, I'm sure - and gray hair will *not* be visible.
Good for you!! You are never "too" old for school! Good luck~ have fun!
That sounds amazing - I worked in film production for a while and it's pretty intense at times but also a lot of fun. I understand how you felt walking around campus - I just split up with my (much) younger boyfriend and always felt like that around his friends.
Yay good luck!
I admire you so much for going back to college... I would struggle to study again after all these years!
Good luck!
I just finished the semester with 16 credits and running with a 4.13 GPA. I'm signed up for 17 next and then next fall 16 and I will have my Bachelor of Science in Urban Planning. I can taste it. I'll be 50 when I get that sheepskin.
Mrs. Tuna that is AWESOME!! I wish I could take that kind of course load but I have to stick with a measly six hours. Great job on the GPA and even better that in your mind 50 isn't too old to get your life going! Good luck!
Nat I couldn't be more ready to get busy studying - I was a stay-at-home mom for about seven years, and with this job I don't use my brain at all...so it will be nice to feel like I'm doing something productive with my brain for a chance.
Thank you Amber!!
Every time I think about the possibilities of this major I get all giddy and excited! Glad to hear you found it fun!
Thanks Diana - it's going to be SO much fun I can taste it. :)
Even if all my grays are visible, I don't care! I've earned each and every one of them. :)
Thanks Bobi, I'm beyond excited myself!
Consider it done! They won't know what hit 'em. :)
I hope so - not knowing what I'm doing makes me feel old yet like a kid all at the same time. :/
