Day 14...let's get this show on the road

In one of yesterday's comments it was asked if I have abandoned my "small changes" plan. I won't say I've abandoned the plan, it's more like it came to a screeching halt. This morning I did dishes from Friday morning - don't need to buy any sour cream because I had plenty naturally grown from bowls of cereal gone unattended for days. Nasty.

My apartment is still a giant obstacle course, the vacuum standing where I left it before the weekend, furniture scattered. I have switched from the little changes in my life and have gone to CODE RED, needing to figure out what to do with the lives of my children so they aren't scarred for life. Scary.

I've made several lists of things to do because my head is about to explode with swirling thoughts of this and that. Hopefully I can find all the lists, compile them, and make sense of what I need to do in the days to come.

Off to take the kids to school where they will spend their day hopefully doing more learning than stressing, having fun and not collapsing from the weight of the problems that surround them.

I'm thinking of you and grateful for the strength you seem to have. It's hard to tell from a blog :) but I'm hoping the best for you.

CODE RED! Well drastic changes have to happen sometimes. At least you got some practice making the small changes and did not get so focused on them you can set them aside to make the big ones. I make lists too, in fact I have a pile of lists. Incidentally, I started a list to clean up my pile of lists. I know no matter how hard I work at organizing, there is always more to be done and a bigger pile to sort. I am on a throw it away kick, making great strides. I just found out my home office has white walls, thought I had painted those before I moved the office in, guess maybe that was on a list of things to do toward the bottom of my things to do list pile! Neverfear, we all have things to accomplish Everyday and I am sure you will make good choices and be able to relieve some of the stress as you move forward. Keep up the good work.

There will always be a time in everyones' life that they need to go into survival mode, or Code Red. Don't worry about the little changes plan. You have built good basics there to help you get back started and what you were doing with those little changes are most definately helping you with code red time. In these super hard stressful times the most important thing to do is do those things that are most important :). Lists are helpful, but they can become too overwhelming and stressful at times. I suggest taking baby steps. Just do the most important stuff and schedule time to do those things that need to be done as you think of them, like appointments etc dealing with having full custody. Or at least this stuff helps me. Everyone is different, but just do the best you can and deep breathe if you have to focus on one thing at a time, especially the basics. Having a plan handy on how to handle extreme code red situations (whether emotional, or something else that happens) during the code red can be extremely helpful. Like maybe a list of things you can do/resort to to get through. But everyone has to do what is best for them and it seems like you are handling this very well. keep up the good work. :D
