Holidays

The wave of cold weather has been a nice change from the heat of summer.  The skies have been overcast and the sweaters have been pulled down from their spot on the top shelf of the closet, a sure sign fall is here.

The first bite of cold against my face immediately made me think of the holiday seasons, and how they're just around the corner.  I am actually excited to celebrate holidays this year - I feel like I can face them rather then hide from them like I did last year.

Last year's holiday season was not merry, or happy, or enjoyable at all.  I wished it would go away, that all the Christmas shoppers would just go home and that Wal Mart would put out its summer stock already.  I didn't put up a tree and I shopped for the kids' gifts at the last minute, forcing myself to go out and immerse myself in the hectic Christmas spirit.  Bah humbug.

This year I'm already becoming excited about Christmas and celebrating the season with the kids.  I can't wait to put up a tree, play a little nostalgic music, and enjoy what I loathed a year ago.

I'm so excited to see all the holiday stuff out in the stores, but I really want to enjoy my flip-flops a bit longer. I'm not ready for pants yet, either. :)
