Kids and their big words

Brandon's fear of snakes has reemerged and has again made him afraid to go to bed at night.  As I tucked him in tonight he began to cry, saying he wanted company.  Here is the conversation that ensued:

B: (crying and rubbing his eyes) I just want some company...
K:  Well sweetie you have all these stuffed animals to keep you company.
B:  (still crying and rubbing)  But I want a grown-up to be with me...
K:  (using my most loving and patient voice) Honey, you don't need a grown-up, you need to grow up.
B:  (crying a bit harder now)  Mom, that was offensive...
A:  (voice from the bottom bunk) Don't worry Brandon I would have found that offensive too!

Damn kids.
