Young padawan

Once upon a time a man taught his young daughter how to make buttermilk pancakes.  From scratch.  It was a secret recipe, one not to be shared with even the mother who was also not privy to the secret handshake either.  Whatevs...she didn't want to know anyway.

For the first time today the young padawan made them all by herself, from beginning to end, no help.  She thinks she is awesome because she can cook.  Her mother thinks she's a sucker -  the more she cooks the less her mother has to.  Score!  Up next, tilapia hollandaise with rice pilaf and green beans almondine.  And she's gonna have to figure it out - hell if she's getting any help!

This has nothing to do with pancakes, padawans, or secrets.  Just pretty flowers we saw today.

I feel the same way about cooking. I wish my daughter would show an interest. But as mom's we just sit there and say good job, even though we are silently laughing to ourselves and thinking one less thing we have to do!

Pancakes is her limit though - she rolls her eyes and gives me grief when she has to make her own Ramen noodles. :/
