Today was my first day of change even though I won't officially start until April 1st. They were small changes, but changes nonetheless. Normally I don't eat breakfast - in fact, I usually take the kids to school, come home and sit at the computer for a few minutes, sleep, pick up Brandon at 12:15, then stop by a fast food joint because I'm so ravenous I'm shaking and willing to eat the car seats if I have to.
This morning I had a bowl of cereal before taking the kids to school...not much but something, right? When I got home I skipped the computer and went right to bed, as I was so tired I could hardly stand myself. (For those of you who don't know, I get to bed around 2:00 am and Dave brings the kids by at 6:00 - so I have to catch up on my sleep!) I woke a little earlier than usual, fixed myself a sandwich, and headed to get Mr. B from school.
Another change I made was that I went to the gym after I picked up Brandon, whether I wanted to or not (did NOT want to go!). I had no workout planned, I just wanted to show up and move even if it was at a snail's pace. I did three different cardio workouts, totalling 35 minutes. Again, not fantastic, but I did it.
Upon getting home from the gym I laid down on the couch, ready to vegetate until it was time to pick up Amanda. There were bills that needed to be paid but I didn't want to deal with them, so I tried to escape into the couch. Nope, gotta change. I got my butt up off the couch, grabbed my check book, and took care of business. By then it was time to get my girl from school, so no vegging for me!
Nothing huge was accomplished today, but many little things were. I left my comfort zone a few times and guess what, I'm still alive. Amazing, huh? I'll see what tonight brings at work, and then tomorrow when I have a day off. I'm hoping this will snowball and I gather up some courage along the way to make bigger changes that will help me even more.
