Metamorphose

Metamorphose  [met-uh-mawr-fohz]:  to change the form or nature of; transform

Now that my life feels a bit less chaotic and stressful than it has been for quite some time, I'm ready to set some goals and really focus on getting my body, mind, and health in shape.  While my reasons are mostly rooted in vanity (I want to look good!!), I do need to treat my insides better.

At my height of 5'10", my weight is around 155 lbs, give or take a couple.  So I'm not concerned about weight loss per se.  What I do want is to firm up, gain some muscle, and lose the jiggle.  People frequently tell me that I'm skinny, but what they don't realize is that there is ample flab that's hidden underneath my clothing.  Lots of dimples, ripples, bulges, rolls...you name it, it's there, and I don't like it.

I have always struggled with maintaining a healthy lifestyle and with making exercise a regular habit.  I figured that sharing a challenge such as this on in a public forum would help keep me accountable and serve as a great source of support.  I am lucky to have so many supportive people who read my blog.

I will use the blog as a way to vent my struggles, share my successes, and ask for help when I need it.  I'm not afraid to be up front about my measurements, etc, so I'll be posting those as well.  Tonight I plan on taking *before* pictures (EEK!) which may or may not be made public in the future.  That will probably depend on how well I succeed with this challenge.  Also tonight I will sit down and set some specific goals and timelines so that I will have a way of gauging myself.

So all of you out there who are reading, I'm counting on you to keep me accountable!  I'm sure at one point or another I will want to quit and throw in the towel.  You'll hear me gripe all about it and that's when I'll need you to give me a giant kick in the butt and tell me to stop  my whining and get back to work.

Here's an idea. Jump some boxes and push some boards. Sound familiar? You were definitely a "hard body" in those days.

Good luck with your goals, you'll do well I'm sure.

I'm behind you all the way! (As long as you'll drag me along.) :)

The sounds of all this exhausts me. Maybe in my younger years. Working 2 days a week is the best that I can do along with 3 or 4 hours a week at the wellness center. Oh to be young again!! Stay firm as long as you can everything will head south soon enough. Prayers and good luck Carol the old grandma!!

Mr francher,

You almost made me cry at the memory of pushing those damn boards. I was strong back then, that's for sure!
