Practice

Yesterday while the kids were at school I nervously got out my drawing gear.  I tried to do a portrait and I could feel right away it was going to be a frustrating experience, so I stopped and decided to take it down to something much more basic...

Meet Mort, Brandon's wind-up chick.  Even though he isn't real, he's about the cutest chick I've ever seen.  His feet didn't turn out well in the picture, but I am extremely pleased with how he looks.

The way in which I draw requires a tremendous amount of focus, and I can't be interrupted, which is why I don't do it with the kids around. I put on my Yanni CD (In My Time), and before I know it time has escaped and a drawing has appeared.

Me with my muse...had such a hard time getting him to sit still!
Thank you all so much for your encouragement, it was very much needed and even more appreciated!

Thank you Bersercules! And by the way, I tried to comment on a post on your blog but I had issues and couldn't get it to work. :( And I love that name, Bersercules.

My first impression? I didn't see the feet. I saw a real chick. Give the girl a gold star! She fooled me. I thought it was real!!! Woot!

I listen to Yanni when I'm in my studio painting too. So easy to get lost in the soothing sounds. You've encouraged me to get down there to produce something today.

Love the drawing.
