Yak yak yak

If the kids and I spend any amount of time apart, as soon as we're together they talk to me.  Nonstop.  I sit and listen patiently to their day at school, or to the MOST EXCITING thing that happened to them, or to what they saw on their way home, or whatever.

I'll hold whatever personal needs I may have until there is a break in conversation, then I'll find a way to escape to say, the bathroom for a minute or two (or five, depending on my bathroomly needs), to take care of my needs personally and quietly.

HA.

Inevitably I hear a knock at the bathroom door just as I sit down.

Mom?

Uhhhhh yeah?

Can I have an apple for a snack?

(In my sweet motherly singsong voice I reply)  Of course!  Now go on and enjoy your snack...

Ok thank you!

You're welcome!

Yesterday I sat down on the throne for a longer, more personal visit (read:  I needed to poo) and, as if on cue, there was a knock at the door.  It was Amanda.

Mom?

WHAT.

Can I eat a Cup O Noodles?

Of course, now can I have a little time to myself?

Oh yeah, sorry I just wanted to ask

Amanda I'm POOING.

Oh, sorry but do you mind if

Keep on talking and you're gonna hear it!

Ok, sorr

Here it GOEEESSSSS!!!

*silence*

Next time maybe I'll do my business with the door wide open.  They'll run so far away they'll lose cell phone reception.

Perfect.

Hehe, certainly would be something for them to not realise the doors are open until too late.

That was a great post! Some times truth is funnier than fiction!
Have you ever thought of playing music in the washroom? If you played it loud enough you wouldn't be able to hear them!

Oh for the old days and outdoor toilets. Alternatively grow a large shrub and hide out there.

Reminds me of when I take a bath (not that I crap in it) - that's always when the phone rings or the front door gets knocked. :(

lol I have no idea why, but I have the same problem! As soon as I head for the bathroom and shut the door, my daughter knocks and my cats scratch at the door and my hubby has questions about this or that. HOLY SHIT PEOPLE! LEAVE ME ALONE FOR 5 MINUTES PLEASE! So yes, I hear your pain and I know how you feel.

Doesn't it kill you that no sooner do you sit down and someone is bugging you? This is one of my biggest pet peeves about being a mom. My hubby can sit forever and not be bothered; I go in and can't be left alone. :)

I really love little motor mouth kids. They crack me up. I don't even have to listen to them because they are never saying anything important. By the time they are teens, they are no longer motor mouths. Enjoy it while it lasts.

I *do* just go to the bathroom with the door open, its just easier to deal with them then having to try and visualize what they need through the door, lol.
